Rod knocking

If I have a rod that just knocking if the oil is low and I put more in it will it quit?

No. The knock is occurring because the damage has been done. The smooth, highly-polished bearings in the engine are torn up and ground away creating the excessive clearance. Once the hammering action between two moving parts starts, it gets worse and worse very quickly until it reaches the point you can hear it. This always starts with just one of the bearings. The resulting lowered oil pressure will cause further damage to all of the other bearings, and eventually, if this goes on long enough, insufficient oil will get sprayed under pressure up onto the cylinder walls. The excessive drag will tear up the pistons and cylinder walls. That will promote overheating and real low power.

If this is caught right away, it is usually possible to save the engine, but the only reliable repair is a total rebuild. I've tried to throw in new bearings, and I've seen other people try it. None of those attempts were successful for very long.
