I was underneath the car just checking things out when I noticed something hanging over crossmember near exhausted. Well, when I finally looked, it was the knock sensor. Can anyone please tell me where this thing is supposed to bolt to? I can't believe I have been driving it without a knock sensor. There are no codes and the only thing I have actually noticed is that gas mileage is not good. Please help if you can this is bothering me.

It bolts to the side of the block up under the exhaust manifold and has a heat shield that should snap over it. If you have the sensor but not the shield you should be able to either, make one or get one from a dealer. It won't really cause poor mileage and with that year the code would only set if the sensor itself failed like an open or short.

I believe I seen that spot it has the heat shield and sensor plugged in I hope the bolt is there just dangling. Thank you for the reply, you are the first one to even have the slightest bit of information. So, if I have to travel from TN to Maryland, it will be okay if I can't find the bolt spot it goes ect.

Can I ask a few more questions about this car? I am a first-time ford owner, love the car. It runs smoothly and I have done a lot of code work like EGR code, fuel pump code, the torque converter code, still intermediate, but I have done a lot because the engine transmission solid body solid. Just lots of stuff some fool never knew or tried to understand and fix.

Ask as many as you like, however please ask each as an individual question so that if someone wants to search a particular issue, they don't get one thread with 50 other topics. So basically, you repeat what you did to ask the first question except use the log in creds you already have. Oh, being a 2005 if you don't already have it you may want to get a copy of FORScan. Forscan. Org and get the OBDLINK EX dongle. That would give you almost the same abilities of a factory scan tool.
