2001 Kia Sportage 4 cyl Manual 120000 miles

I recently bought the kia sportage. It is a stick shift but I may feel that the cluth disengages too quickly. Should the clutch disengage in toward the middle or closer to a fully pressed clutch? Also, are kia's fuel efficient and a good car. Also, the engine makes a small and quick rattling sound when accelerating sometimes. Thank you.

Hi danielmosri,

I believe you are referring to the pedal height when the clutch engages/disengages. Reference should be made in reverse, height for the clutch to engage.

For new clutches it should be about 1 - 2 inches of travel from bottom for the clutch to engage. The more wear on the clutch disc, the higher the pedal would travel to engage.

The rattling noise during acceleration could be anything from something lose to bad conrod bearings. You would need to locate the source of the noise to be sure what is causing it.
