My 99 Kia Sportage, mileage 147,000, started running funny today. When I started it it hesitated and when I went to accelerate it barely moved and shut down. I had to re-start it and try over and over. Finally I figured out once I get it over 1 rpm and keep it there it will keep running but if it gets lower it will die. Is the mass air flow sensor causing this problem?

The MAF can cause this to happen, but before you start replacing parts for no reason, have you checked fuel pump pressure? Has the check engine light come on?

Let me know.
