1999 Kia Sportage Four Wheel Drive Automatic 118000 miles

First off, when I turn the steering wheel my car feels like it's gliding. It's not bumpy, just this smooth yet seemingly uncontrollable glide. Like it could just slide into another lane. It's only on turns, but there are a lot of turns out there. Also, when I brake my emergency brake light comes on, but the emergency brake is all the way down. What's up with that? These are new problems that are driving me crazy! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi FeminaPertinax,

The brake indicator light showing is most probably due to low fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir.

Is there any front and rear differential lock for your vehicle? If the switch is operated, it could cause the sliding effect.

I'll make sure to check that. As for a lock on the front or rear, I have no clue. Fluids I can handle no problem, that's part of easy up keep. Anything else I'm dumbfounded. I'm sure I'll need to just take it to a pro to check it out. I'll just make it worse, haha. I'll let you know how that goes. Thank you for your reply!

Hi FeminaPertinax,

Check the dash if there is any 4 Wheel indicator light on and look for a switch to turn it off.
