2001 Kia Optima cylinder misfire and engine jumping

The car i'm looking at gave me the check engine code po301 which is cylinder misfire. At the time the problem occurred the car began to jump, and acceleration was lost. The car has a definate popping sound to the exhaust now too. The jump in the engine is noticable at low speeds, or at idle.

Misfire at cyl no.1 -check the sparkplug, compression and injector for this cylinder, start here

What about the hopping of the engine? I figured the spark plugs, and wiring would fix the misfire
