One day when I put my car in park it stopped allowing me to remove the key from the dash. Would this be a cylinder issue or a neutral safety switch issue? GM here says $875.00 to fix it and won’t tell me exactly what it is.

First thing, I don't like that they won't tell you exactly what the issue is. Did they charge you for a diagnostic and then not tell you? If so, that is not right. They need to provide you an estimate as to what it will take to fix the vehicle and then allow you to decide if you are going to do it. If not, then you pay for the diagnosis and take you car.

As for the issue this sounds like the shift interlock solenoid has failed. I would access this in the center console next to the shifter and you should be able to manually move the solenoid contact and get the key to release. If not it needs to be replaced.

Take a look at this attached info and let me know what questions you have. Thanks
