I drove to work, locked the doors with the key fob. At noon, I took something out to my truck. The key fob wouldn't work, so I unlocked the door with the key. This set off the alarm and I put the key into the ignition, but didn't start it. Afterwards, I locked the door with the key. When I got off work, I unlocked the door and started the truck. It ran for about 5 seconds and shut down. I did it again and it did the same thing. When I tried again, there was no sound at all. All accessories worked, but not the engine. When I popped the hood, I found that my ground cable on the brand new battery was loose. Could this have caused the key fob to lose the programming?

Hello, I'm Danny.

It not necessarily would have lost programming to the key fob it's just that with the ground cable loose there would have been no power to the power door unlock actuator to have the fob unlock it. Just in case you want to try to reprogram. here is an anti-theft, security system reset tutorial:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-reset-a-security-system

After reading just scroll the page to find Dodge-Chrysler steps and continue with the directions. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
