Just bought this van. After filling it with gas, it would start and cut off after about 5 seconds. After to van sat for 15 minutes, it runs but runs rough at RPM greater than 2500. Seems to run okay while driving but still rough while in park and revving engine to about 2500 RPM.

Hi,

This is most likely because you have fuel in the vapor canisters. The way this works is that these canisters hold fuel vapor so it is not emitted to the atmosphere, reduces emissions, and it improves fuel mileage.

When these get fuel in them from overfilling the tank, the purge will pull in the fuel and it will cause it to have a rough idle or even stall especially after filling the tank.

I would remove them and see if there is raw fuel in them. If there is, I would replace both canisters and the purge valve because when these get fuel in them, the charcoal breaks down and get pulled into the purge and will cause them to stick.

Let me know what you find and we can go from there. Thanks

Thanks for your excellent reply. It seems that one of the 2 keys has a bad chip or something since it only has the problem when using one particular key. Very strange but as long as I use the other key it runs okay. Thanks again for your advice.
