Jumped timing

Good afternoon,

You will need to replace the belt with a new belt.

The issue is when the belt fails, it usually bends valves which will require removal of the cylinder head and replace the valves.

Removal

1. Remove the accessory drive belt.

2. Detach the coolant expansion tank.
Remove the bolt and position the expansion tank to one side.

3. Detach the power steering reservoir and position to one side.
4. Remove the right-hand front wheel and tire.

5. Remove the crankshaft pulley/vibration damper.
6. Lower the vehicle.

7. CAUTION: Do not pull on the ignition wire when removing the spark plug connector. If necessary remove the ignition coil plug to avoid bending the ignition wire. Turn the spark plug connector slightly before removing to loosen the gasket.

CAUTION: Pull off the spark plug connector in a straight movement.

Disconnect the ignition wires from the spark plugs.
Remove the two ignition wire separators from the valve cover.

8. NOTE: If an original spark plug is reused, install it in the same cylinder from which it was removed. New spark plugs may be installed in any cylinder.

Remove the spark plugs (shown with engine removed).
9. Place a jack with a wooden block under the oil pan and raise slowly until the front engine mounting is free from strain.

10. Remove the engine front mounting.

11. Remove the timing belt cover.

12. Remove the engine front mounting bracket (shown with engine removed).

13. Align the timing marks.

14. Remove the timing belt.
1. Use an 8 mm Allen wrench and turn counter clockwise 1/4 turn.
2. Insert a 3 mm (1/8 inch) drill bit to lock the timing belt tensioner in place.
Remove the timing belt.
