Engine Performance problem
2002 Jeep Wrangler 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

My 2002 Jeep Wrangler has a hesitation, usally while acclerating, however sometimes while at crusing speed. I took the Jeep in for repairs and they said it was because of carbon build up in my throttle body. The day I got it out of the shop the engine light came back on and the same problem continued. I took it back in, however I don't think these guys know exactly what the problem is. It's kind of like shade tree mechanics. Well shoot let's replace that!

Sorry dude - you've got some rookies looking at your beast.

I had a problem similar to yours.

Do you know what the trouble code the computer is spitting out? You can find online guides to get this without using a machine, but a quick a dirty way is.

Turn the key on and off 3 times, on the third time, leave it on. Count the number of times the check engine light flashes in sequences. It should count similar to this.

1, 2, 3, code (two digit codes, and you might have multiples so record them all) and finishes with a 5, 5.

My money is on a code relating to your O2 sensor. When mine went it gave me the exact same symptoms. (Fix is about $75 and you can do it yourself - it's like screwing in a lightbulb it's so easy!)
