Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Jeep Wrangler 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 80k miles

My 2000 Jeep wrangler has been acting up. I will drive it and all of a sudden it will stall, the RPM's go to Zero but all the electrical will stay on and I either have to pull over and restart or put it in nuetral and restart it. I pulled the gas tank to check the furl pump but was told that the fuel pump will either work or wont its not either or. So I put the tank back on and changed my air filter and it still stalls and its been getting worse. Someone told me it may be the fuel injectors but no one can tell for sure the check engine line does NOT come on so the local shop wants to charge me over 100 an hour to check it for something they already told me that they dont know whats wrong. Was hoping u might lead me in the right direction in terms of fixing it.

Try changing the fuel filter first, to make sure you are getting fuel. A clogging fuel filter will let fuel through but as time goes by it will let less making the car stall.

Absolutley untrue that a fuel pump will work or not work. I would check the fuel pressure and find out if it is in spec.

This may also be casued by a dirty ao malfunctioning IAC motor. IAC can often be cleaned.

See if you can get the codes read, or buy an code reader to see what is stored in there.

How old is your battery?
