Electrical problem
1975 Other Jeep Models V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual 0

I am rebuilding the electrical system with Painless wireharness. Currently, this is a ground up restoration on a 1975 CJ5. There is no body yet, so I am using temporary wiring to start the AMC360. I cannot get the starter to turn over. If I bypass the solenoid by jumping the two large terminals on the solenoid the starter will turn over. I have tried 2 new solenoids and nothing changes. How do I get the start to turn over using the solenoid?

from the ignition switch you need a hot wire when you turn the key to start. It connects to the top of the solenoid and when energized makes the solonoid.
you should be able to jump it usung a small wire from a power source. make sure the solonoid is grounded.
