Rear Tire Rims Get Hot

I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty Sport with a 3.7L engine and 160,000 miles. Recently I had driven about 50 miles and noticed smoke coming from the left rear area when I stopped at a red light and it had a strange odor. I pulled into a parking lot and stopped and the rear Tire rims was exceptionally hot and so were the brakes. I took it in the next day (2 weeks ago) and had the brakes checked, pads replaced and front wheel bearing repacked. Today when I got to work I smelled that odor again and touched the tire rims and they were hot again. Any suggestions on the cause?

I have an 03 liberty, same thing happened to me, your rear brake caliper is sticking, it probably needs to be replaced. If you heated up the rim too much, you probably warped the rotor to. Good luck.
