I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 229,000 miles. It will crank and run half of the time then it will go dead on a whim. You might be driving down the road, it stall and will pick back up or you might pull up to a stop sign and it will go dead. It also goes dead while going down the road sometimes. We changed the fuel filter but it does not help. This is an on and off problem. It is becoming more frequent though. We put a code reader on it and it says P0351 Ignition coil A primary/secondary circuit malfunction but not sure what that means. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

I too have a laredo 4x4 with over 200k miles. Just started having this issue and found someone online with a suggestion. I tried it and so far it's working. The suggestion is to take the 1/2 inch torx head screws out of the bottom of the ecm and replace with 1/4 inch ones. My bf put 1/8 inch washers on instead of replacing the screws and so far it's working. I replaced the ignition coil (p0351) before we tried this. What was happening was that the ecm was vibrating and hitting something that was making it die out. When I was idling and my bf pushed on the ecm cover the beastie would die. Since adding the washers no problem (so far). Just make sure if you do this, and you decide to take the plugs out of the ecm, to disconnect the negative on your battery, otherwise you will short out the ecm and it's expensive to replace.

Good Luck
