My Jeep overheated a while ago so I sent both heads off to be recond, got them back and installed with new gasket kit.

When I started the car it was noisy but running fine, I drove the car 800km and it was still constantly noisy but the rest was fine (heaps of power). I was told that I needed to install new lifters witch I done and the heads are still noisy.

Check all of the rocker arms and adjust as necessary. Are they hydrolic lifters? Make sure all of the pushrods are properly seated in the lifters and rocker arms.
Why did you recondition the heads? Did you recondition anything else, like the engine bearings? If the heads overheated to the point where the valve seals failed, the engine bearings could be damaged also. Could this be a bearing noise?
