Hey guys, I have a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I need to replace the transmission cooler lines. The existing lines were butted up against the exaust and melted through the cooler line/s. So now my car is leaking transmission fluid. How much would you say is fair price for replacing these lines if I were to take it to a shop or a dealer?

The lines should be steel. Have they rubbed a hole?

They may have rubbed a hole. I just spotted a part in the line where it was up against the exhaust pipe and the cooler line was dented in. That also seems to be where my fluid is coming from so I just assumed it melted. Is that not a common problem?

No, it really isn't common. The lines shouldn't be touching anything. As far as replacement, if you find a factor direct fit part, expect to pay around 50.00 for it and allow about an hour for labor.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Joe
