1991 Jeep Laredo 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 200.00 miles

we are thinking of buying a 1991 jeep larado with original 200,000 miles, however the rebuilt engine has 40,000 miles on it.

the engine has a squeak near the idle belt. (The owner changed the water pump and it didn't stop it).

How easy is it to change, and how much approximately to cost?

Also, he says he changed the brakes and rotors in Dec. (6 months ago), but it really shakes when you put on the brakes.

Can you help? We are trying to decide if it's worth buying. He is asking $2,500.00 and says he has $3,500.00 in it.

Hello,

Ok, the squeal could be the Idle Pulley Bearings. To test take can of spray lube and with engine off spray center bolt of idler pulley, start engine if squear is gone for short period of time then Idler Pulley needs replacing.

To change it is very easy and the cost of the pulley could be $12 - $24.

As far as the brakes, does the pedal pulse? If so most likely warped rotors.

Also, could be that it needs tires balanced, bad tie rod ends, or bad ball joints.
