Squirly Steering.

Hi. I have recently acquired a 1988 Jeep cherokee, inline 6 I believe, 205,000 miles. When I bought the jeep, it had been abandoned on the highway, I checked it out and the steering stablizer was not bolted to the frame. It was attached by a bungee, I guess to keep from dragging the ground.

I got that all fixed and was hoping to hit the road; when I went to drive it, the steering still requires world's stongest man for operation. It does seem that when making a left turn it is easier, and the faster I'm moving as well. The power steering pump is operational as far as I know, but I don't really know.

Please if there are a couple of helpful tips you could provide, that would be great. I don't have any extra money or I wouldn't have bought a car from an auction to begin with. Any hints?

I wpold check the pump for pressure, pull the casp snd see if the fluid is moving around, you can also momentarily pich the high pressure line and see if you have fluid flying out of thepump if you do the pump works if not it may have broken the pump shaft internally and nwould not have any pressure

thanks
