Ignition switch won't work

1998 Grand Cherokee 100,000 mi. 6 cyl auto on floor 4 wheel drive. Someone tried to steal the vehicle by smashing the ignition switch with a hammer. I replaced the switch and lock cylinder. Loc won't turn to lock position to remove the key. On and start position do nothing. Wires show no damage. Press brake and push button on shift lever and the servo for the lockout on the column clicks and the pawl moves a little, but won't let me shift out of park. What am I missing. Help is appreciated.
