AC fuse located in the "Power Distribution Center" of my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee keeps blowing.

Put in a new clutch kit (clutch/coil/pulley/bearing) - let it sit & idle for 30 minutes or so & all seemed well. Then, started to drive & in 5 minutes, the fuse blew again. & Now when you attempt to even install a new fuse, it crackles, pops & blows (or melts - tried both a 15 & a 30 amp).

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Michael

I don't have an answer, but I am having the same issue and I was planning to look for a short in the wiring.

I have a 2003 Cherokee as well with about 68,000 miles. When it got hot this summer I tried to use the AC and it didn't work. I checked the AC Clutch fuse and it was blown. I replaced it, and when I engaged the AC it immediately blew again.

I have replaced the fuse again and it does NOT blow without engaging the AC from inside the Jeep - as I expected.

I was considering replacing the Clutch, but based on your issue I plan to look for a short in the wiring first.

Bad wiring was indeed the problem. Instead of trying to track down & repair the offender, just went ahead & replaced (not expensive & less time consuming/frustrating). All is well & not a moment too soon with temps now well into the 90's! Thanks!
