2001 Jeep Cherokee 2001 Jeep oil pressure drops while idle

Seems to be running fine, when I'm at a stop light my oil pressure drops to zero, when I accelerate it goes back to normal, however is seems to drop as I slow down, when I pop it in nuetral and rev up the motor it goes back to 40 psi.

Is the engine making any type of knocking noises? If not replace the oil pressure switch

Test the oil pressure switch first. Try an oil change these vehicals are notorious for a partialy clogged filter. Mine starts droping oil pressure by about 2700 miles for some reason. Everytime too. Ive found that using the moble 1 filter makes a big difference too
