? I need some help. The lift gate on my Jeep will not open. We had been having some trouble in the past with it not wanting to unlatch. Usually after a try or 2 it would open. Now it won't open at all. How can we open it so that we can fix it without damaging any part of the door : Any help would be greatly appreciated.

While lifting the latch pleace your foot next to the latch and apply pressure. This worked for me and the I sprayed WD-40 into the latch and now it works great. I reapply WD-40 often

Here goes,
Mine was stuck for 6 months, the other day I decided to try a new approach.

1. Climb inthe back of the jeep.
2. At the base of the rear window gently pry the plastic panel back until you see the the latch mechanism in side.
3. On the right side you will see a verticle threaded rod, pull up and the door will open.

4. When the door is open remove panel and weather proofing. Adjust the threaded rod until it opens each time.
5. I used some wire to keep the rod from slipping out of position.

Let me know if this helps.
