Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 150300 miles

My Cherokee shakes like crazy at idle but as soon as you give it gas it is as smooth as glass. We have done the following. Compression check 1 & 3 cylinders are low 50 lbs (all the rest are 150 - 160 ) new spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, checked all vacuum hoses, head off and cleaned and re-seated valves in 1 & 3, (some carbon was found on them ), checked all others, checked for bent valves, checked lifters, checked all valve springs, checked cylinders for scoring, new exhaust manifold gasket, head gasket, valve cover gasket, changed oil, oil filter, anti freeze, all check out fine, compression is within 20 lbs all cylinders. It still shakes like crazy at idle, then smooths out so you would think you were in a new Jeep.

Have you cleaned the throttle body (specifically the idle air bypass)?
