My car seems to sputter on given days and also sometimes may backfire. Usually, this will happen in the morning on my way to school after about 10 minutes of driving, the car will start to jolt (sputter) then it will kind of die then completely cut off. I will have to pull over and turn the key (and I have to give it gas or it wont start) then it will eventually start, then a lot of my gas is gone by the time it restarts. The previous owner said it was a faulty wire and only happens in cold or wet weather. But just the other day, it happened again, but it was dry and around 70 degrees. I have had the crank position sensor replaced, and the pick up coil replaced as well. This was only a temporary fix. Im thinking it has to be something along the lines of the fuel pump or catalytic converter. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, your exactly right, I think your problem may be both, (hopefully not). You will need to check fuel pressure, also make sure you check the fuel filter, visually inspect the fuel pressure regulator for a crack in the vacuum hose, as far as the backfire, that may very well be your catalytic converter, try to crawl underneath and rap on it with a crow bar or wooden stick. (Dont kill it) and see if you hear something rattling around inside
