Hi there,

I have a 1994 Jeep cherokee, with 216kms on it. It has the straight 6 in it. 4X4. With I think a Dana 35 diff in the rear.

Here is my problem, when I am driving the truck and I hit speeds around 60mph, I am getting a humming/roaring sound coming from the rear. The sound starts around 50mph and stays tied to the truck speed/engine speed. If I off the acclerator and let the truck coast the sound dissappears.

Could this be from the diff, or from a u joint?

I doubt a u-joint. U-joints may clunk when first put into gear and will vibrate more so than hum/roar. I would be more inclined to think rear end. Have you checked the fluid level in it?

Yes, I have replaced the fluid in hopes the sound would dissappear or atleast change. But nothing.

Was there any silver or shiny metal fragments in the fluid?

A little yes. But not much. And very small flakes in the oil. Kinda like fools gold.

Best bet to to get it up on a lift and run it to see if it is the rear end. Kinda starting to point to a rear end problem.

If the Sens keep playing as they are and Buffalo does the same, you guys will enjoy a championship.

I do recommend this company for the diff:

I expect it to go 7 games. It should be great series.
If you guys start to lose, just don't cry about Alfie this year.

I have actually spent some time with a few Ottawa Fans. Seem a lot like
Buffalo folks to me.
