I drove it to the gas station put $20 in gas. It started then died leaving smoke coming out of the airfilter. I opened it and looked there was nothing but an air filter there. I then tried to recrank it. It started but quickly died. Now it just turns over and wont start. What could be wrong? Help Please

You might check for codes. I believe you can cycle the ignition switch and get some codes. You turn the key till the dash lites come on, no further, when you start the process. You cycle the switch, on--off, on--off, on, then the cel should start flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes. You could do some basic tests, have a helper crank it, while you check for spark at the plugs. I'd check the codes.

Cod e55 end of message no codes
pull and check for spark try and listen if you hear the fuel pump when 1st key on
locate ASD relay mark it and switch it with another similar relay
check coil
turn key on do you have check engine light on?
If not check fuses and relays
if yes crank engine light should go out as cranking
if not I would check and replace crank sensor

check if you have any security light on or blinking with key in the ignition and on
good luck and let me know

Crank position sensor. They will give up the ghost that quickly. Is the same as dizzy shaft breaking on other vehicles - one minute your going. Next minute your not
