1993 Jeep Cherokee widshield wipers

My windshield wipers have slowed down to a crawl or will not move at all. If I leave the swithch on, they might make one very slow pass or do nothing for a while and then make another slow pass. Makes no difference if they are turned on high, low, or intermittant. Wet or dry is the same. What causes this problem?

Based on the wiring diagram, there is nothing else that could have been at fault other than your wiper motor.
