1990 Jeep Cherokee Drive shaft shrank?

Ok, it was just the inside sleeve stuck on the outside. Thank you very much for your help though.

Reading your situation, it sounds like you are dealing with "Apples and Oranges"

I think maybe the "Sleeve" portion of your new one is a different length than your old one, or the Insert (shaft) into the sleeve is shorter.

Regardless, You must insure they are slid into each other enough (overlap), so there is no flex or "Bowing" in the center of your shaft.

Maybe 2 Different Manufacturers?

You should install the CORRECT--New one completely, That way wear (or mating surfaces) will be uniform on the shaft, balance may play in also. May require a little Extra work!
