Hello Gentlemen, I have a 1992 Jaguar XJS V12 coupe with 83,000 miles on it and the message center above the radio now reads: "Check Engine". Is there a device similar to an OBD-II code reader that I can purchase to read the code or codes? If so, what is it called, where can I purchase it, and how much can I expect to pay for it?

Thanks,

Tom

Any good parts store should be able to give you prices and availability on a scan unit. Being a Jag owner myself I've learned it pays to shop around.

OK, what is the scan unit called? Remember my car is a 1992 Jaguar XJS V12. I know it is not an OBD-II so what is it called. I did go into every good parts store around and they had no idea what I need. That is why I asked you. Please tell me the name of the scan unit or type of scan unit. Thanks

The only scan unit I have found for a 1992 XJS V12 is from NAPA auto parts. It's called a EZ scan 5000, or 6000. Retail price for the 5000 is $580.00 / 6000 is $770.00. The availability break seems to be 1996.
