1998 Jaguar XJ8 Annoying alarm chirp.

Is there a way to disarm the part of the alarm system that chirps when you open an unlocked door, thus sending you on a frantic search for the key in order to suspend the alarm and avoid the embarrassing situation of sitting in your ulocked car while the horn blasts and the lights flash? Same thing happens if you leave the trunk open for a few minutes while loading the car!

If this is an aftermarket alarm which it sounds like due to the "self-arming", just disconnect the alarm horn, should be seperate from the cars horn. Usually alarms will flash the lights as well, so you will still know when it is on
