89 XJ6 oil P gone mad

When I stop my oil Pressure goes to zero and my rpms decline until the car dies. To combat this I have been putting the car in N which seems to keep the oil pressure up a bit I still have to gas it on longer lights and such tho.
It does have a oil leak somewhere around the filter I am told but the car has plenty of oil.
