I have a 1996 xj6 after driving it for some time or not even when it wants, the car turns off on me when it comes to a stop and it stalls and the check engine goes off? The check engine light is on at all times.
when I turn on the car after it starts it makes a grrrrr noise too?

I'm not sure what a grrrrr noise is, but you need to find out what tripped your check engine light. If can't find it on the VCM, you will have to have someone scan the computer to find out what trouble codes are stored in memory.
