Thanks for cracking the code. Do you know if the 1986 XJ12 came in C or L? Or both?

1986 Jaguar XJ12

This vehicle (aka XJ-S) was available in one length in 1986. The length would be classified as long since the vehicle is a 2+2 passanger. In 1987 Jag produced a XJ-SC which was a 2 passanger V-12. So knowing that the 2 seater is classified as a short length, then we can consider the 1986 XJ-S a long length, however according to Jaguar and collector data it is classified officially as neither. The 1986 XJ-S has a wheelbase of 102" and an overall length 191.3". Original sticker $36000. A total of 4,885 XJ-S vehicles were sold in the US in 1986. Equipped with a 60 deg V12 overhead cam engine, aluminum block and heads. Displacement of 326cid (5343 cc). Brake horsepower is 262hp at 5000rpm. Torque is 290 ftlbs at 3000rpm. This vehicle also has electronic fuel injection.

The XJ-SC sold as a 1987 model began US sale in spring 1986. This vehicle was equipped with a targa top and may easily be confused or may have even be represented as an 1986 model because of it's early release. The tell tale sign will be the XJ-SC is a two seater.
