My heater is not working, I have tested for codes and nothing comes up. I have checked the heater core and it is free and clear, water runs both ways through it when the hoses are removed. However, the hose that runs from the heater core to the lower right side of the radiator (passenger side) will not allow water to flow through at all. The hose goes into some sort of plastic distribution block. Is this and electrically controlled thermostat or valve that is supposed to open when the heater is turned on? If so, it is not working. Can you just buy this part or do you have to change a bunch of craP?

Thanks.

That is the heater control valve. It is electronically controlled by the a/c control unit. If nothing is getting past it, it is problably stuck closed. Take it out and apply power to it and see if it works, if not replace it and it should work fine. I haven't seen one get stuck they usually leak, but check it and see. You can get this part seperatly too, I have done a bunch of them.

I am a jaguar technician, I have seen multiple time that the heater valve to stick or not work, remove heater valve and reconnect electrical connector while hoses to the heater valve are remove, have somebody turn the heater high and ac low, looking inside the heater valve where the hoses go to, you should see it open and close, if not then you have a problem with the climate control module, which is very common to go out also, especially on s-types.
