1996 Isuzu Trooper check engine light

Just purchased vehicle, drove it around for a few days (put approx 100 miles on it) then the check engine light came on. The engine sounds fine, only smell is maybe burning oil. All the gauges seem normal (not running hot, voltage is good, oil pressure is good)
what would cause the light to come on?

Hi there,

This light is a visual indication that a fault code has been set in the ECU memory, you will need to get a scan done to read this code, post the code here for more assistance.
