Tires and Wheels problem
1989 Isuzu Trooper Four Wheel Drive Manual 145000 miles

Hi there
I have something going on in the front wheels of my Isuzu trooper.
At first I had a grating sound in the passenger side wheel for about a mile so I did a three point turn to return home when it stopped.
A few days later the driver side wheel started banging when I pulled off. A mechanic came out said it was the hub or the cv joint, he swapped the hub assembly from the driver to the passenger side and visa versa. The banging has stopped for now but is it safe to drive? Also the front tyres have quickly gone bold on the insides and there is a thud when the steering wheel is turned in reverse.

Sounds like the cv joint should be checked, drive forward slowly with the windows unrolled and slowly turn the wheel left and right if you hear a tickign the cv is bad.

You may have a bad ball joint also.

Thankyou blackop 555 for your quick response.
There is no ticking, it seems fine now but don't know for how long

Well I would say its safe to drive, just if it starts clunking and running rough when your driving dont continue to keep driving it.
