I've been experiencing almost the same problem intermittently. My rodeo has 145,000 miles and is in excelent cond, until this: I'll drive normally and sometimes when I come to a stop, the "check Trans" light will come on flashing and when I go to accelerate, the will lag like its stuck in 1st or second gear. I can go on driving for weeks without it happaning and out of nowhere it will start malfunctioning again. Its in the shop npow and they atre trying to replicate the problem and find trouble codes. I'll try to post any problems they find.

Well, I just got my car back from the mech, they tried several times to replicate the problem and they got it to do it, but they could not get a proper trouble code. He honestly thiks its gonna be a problem with a solenoid or even electrical. Since they can't get a proper trouble code, I've been told to take it home and drive it around til it getss worse. They'll be able to diagnose the problem better when the check trans light is solid. But they also checked the trans itself and mechanically it seems sound-whew! I don't want to be left with trying to find a trans for this thing, I'll keep u posted.

Im having the same issue myself, ive changed the ignition control mod once before which solved it for about a year, but now the prob is very bad and it doesnt seem to be the issue this time. Im thinking its a neutral safety switch. Was not ecu eather.

If the alternator is over charging at 16V this can cause a problem in the TCM, first make sure that the alternator is ok and the charge rate is correct at around 14V and then do a code check, start here.
