I have a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo LS 3.2 V6 engine with about 68,000 miles. I notice that my ABS light in the dash comes on at random times. I've watched it, and there's no pattern. Any ideas what the problem may be? Thanks for your help!

I am having the same problem with my 1995 Isuzu Rodeo V6 (170,000miles). I have the brakes completely checked and there is nothing wrong with them. I would like to find a solution to this problem too because if the light is on when you are getting it inspected they will reject it! Look forward to hearing the answer!

The mechanical brakes and the Anti-lock Brakes are separate.

That's right. You need to get the codes read from the computer to find out what ABS codes are in there on both of these vehicles. There are sensors at the wheels that tell the car's computer what speed the whels are turning at, when one or more wheels are not turning at the same speed such a when you skid or hit ice for example it will engage the ABS braking action. SO if the computer loses a signal from one or more of the sensors, it will set a code and throw the light on to tell you that it wants help.

What State has the ABS light as part of inspection?

I live in Virginia.

Actually, I don't know if it is the ABS light that wouldn't pass or the fact that every time the ABS light comes on the Brake light comes on too. Again, I have had the brakes completely checked by two different ASE certified mechanics (I let my teenager drive this vehicle!) And they have assured me that everything is fine. It is annoying and like the first post said--there is no rhyme or reason to when it comes on and off. Sometimes it stays on the whole time you drive, sometimes it doesn't come on at all and sometimes it seems to go on and off every time you go over a bump--which is quite alot in the state of VA! Thanks for any help you can give!

Well get the codes read. IT will most likely be a speed sensor that went south, but get em checked.
