I was driving my Rodeo yesterday and it kept dying while I was driving. First time the dash lights lit up and the car just stopped. I turned the car off and started it again and it fired right up.
Later that day the dash lights came on and it seemed like it was going to shut off again but it fired itself back up again. This happened twice. So far it did not happen on my drive to work.
Someone told me it might be the fuel filter? Any ideas? Where is the fuel filter on a 97 rodeo?

Had alternator replaced about 4 months ago. When that went bad my air con stopped working and my check engine light came on. I put fuel system cleaner in my gas tank this weekend and it hasn't happened again. It actually only happened those 2 times a couple weeks ago and then a couple days ago. I also started warming up my car a little longer in the morning. Is it necessary to warm up older cars?

Not a bad idea to let it warm up a few minutes, I can't really say I do. Reman or rebuilt alternaters seem to have a higher tendencies of failure than may other parts. You still may have one that is a borderline one even though it's 4 months old. I'm more apt to think the fuel inection cleaner and problem occurance are not related.
