Hello NAINOA,

It appears there is a hole in your transmission.

I have taken a screenshot of the video and circled what appears to be a massive hole in your transmission.

Can you confirm this?

Thank you,
Brendon

Yes, that’s definitely the problem I was asking about. This is where the transmission is leaking from. What can I do to fix this issue?

Hello NAINOA,

From what I can see it looks like it is a hole in the bellhousing. This area should have no fluid. This is where you clutch plate is located. If there is fluid leaking out of there you may have an issue with the rear main seal on the engine. This piece can be removed from this transmission and replaced however if the rear main seal is leaking it is better the hole be there until it is fixed to keep that area from filling with fluid.

How long have you had the vehicle?

It looks like this hole was purposely made to drain something. I say this because that isn't an easy spot to get to or to hit with a rock if you are out in the woods. Not impossible though.

Have you noticed a drop in engine oil level or engine oil warning light?

How does you clutch feel? Any slipping when changing gears, foul or burnt smells, hard time changing gears? Engine possibly surging when accelerating?

If you could take a few more pictures of the area for me, I would appreciate it. Maybe you can shine a light inside the hole a take one as well.

I would also take a few cans of brake clean and some rags and clean the area the best you can so we can see how much it is leaking as well to reduce any risk of fire.

I would check your engine oil and see if it low and top it off if it needs to be.

At this time, I would check the transmission fluid as well by removing the fill plug on the side of the transmission. Make sure to clean all dirt from the area before removing the plug. Take your finger and put in the fill hole. The fluid should be at the bottom of the fill hole. If it is low fill with 75W90 GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil.

I have added an image of what the fill plug should look like.

Thank you,
Brendon
