1997 Infiniti J30 I.A.C. Valve Needs R&R Diagnostic Cod

Before I received this code, the repairmen had replaced a bad knock sensor and had damaged the engine during repair.

Immediately leaving the shop, I began having problems with the car. Black smoke coming from the back of the car, rough idling/knock noises, would misfire, then the car would die. I brought the car back and the Diagnostic Code was I.A.C. Valve Needs R&R. What does this mean? Any help is greatly appreciated. Rebecca

Hi there,

The IAC is the idle air control unit, this is a small electric motor driven orifice valve that controls the amount of air into the engine during idle, it is controlled by the ECU via input signals from various sensors, can you report the exact code set it will be a P**** code.
