Would a faulty fuel pressure regulator (overpressure) cause stalling when in gear and random misses?

yes a faulty fuel pressure regulator could cause those symptoms and more such as difficult or no start situations or lack of power. a clogged fuel filter, failing fuel pump ore bad PCM can also cause these symptoms..
