1995 Infiniti J30 Check Engine Light Service

1995 Infiniti J30 6 cyl Automatic 146000 miles

I have both an 1995 Infiniti J30 and 2001 QX4. Would I be able to scan both cars by using Equus 3140 Innova Diagnostic Code Scanner? I'm considering in purchasing this product if It can be used on both "older" and "newer" vehicles. I've read info. On it which states reading some vehicles prior to 1995 but I wanted to make sure it can read both vehicles that I have before I purchase it. Your advice would be appreciated. If you a better product around $200, please recommend. Thanks!

If you are going to buy a scanner you need to make sure it will do both obd1 and 2 otherwise it will not read your car and make sure it say's it will scan asian cars in your year too. As for the engine light right now. I would call your local parts stores and see it one will do a free scan. Get it scanned and write down the codes and have them clear it and then get back to me with the codes and we will see what the car is saying to us.

I've went to the local auto parts store but they couldn't scan because the scanner plug didn't fit.
