1998 Infiniti I30 CV Boots and axles

I've been told the CV boots are aged and cracked. Is it a good idea to replace the axles with the Boots? The dealer wants $506 to replace the boots and mechanic at a good shop will do both axles and boots for $380. Should I be concerned about the quality of the axles because I doubt they will be original inifinit axles?
