it wont start.A new alternator was place in it. But the mechanic said it needs a new battery and an oil change

Hi tchel,

If the starter cannot crank, try using a jumper to see if it works, the battery couls be bad and requires replacement.

Oil change is not related to non starting but if it is recommended to be replaced, guees you should trust the mechanic.
