I had the ignition cylinder replaced on my car listed above LX. The new cylinder came with 2 keys but won't start. I was told that the new keys were programmed to the new ignition immobilizer module but not to the ECU immobilizer. If I purchase a genuine OEM ignition immobilizer module (searched online by car vin number) and have it installed, does it still have to be programmed to the ECU immobilizer in the car or will my car actually start? Also, can a locksmith do this, or will the car have to be taken to a dealership?

Yes. Anytime you replace any of these components they need to be installed and programmed to the vehicle.

They do not need to be installed by a dealership but just someone that has a scan tool that is capable of programming the components.

Below is the info on this switch. Please let us know if you have other questions. Thanks
