Immobilizer

I lost only key for car but my friend has a Pontiac and her key fits my ignition and will turn the car on (that is crazy, right!). But I am assuming it is the immobilizer that is shutting my car down after startup? (My car shuts off a few seconds after starting). So, I tried to program the key by the "ten minute three times" method but no luck. My question is this, do I need to have a brand new key for programming to work or since my friends key fits already can I reprogram that key? Can it reprogram a used key?

Also, is there a way to bypass or disconnect the immobilizer if I cannot figure anything else out?
I am broke and just cannot afford at the moment to take my car to the dealer and pay those fees! :(

Yes and can bypass the alarm system on your car.
