I recently replaced the ignition lock cylinder because of a lost key! I've put the new lock cylinder in, and it won't start now? I know there is security, without the original key how do I get this running again?

Being a 97 truck this should be one you can use the 30 minute relearn on.
1- Start with a fully charged battery and key off.

2 - Turn the key to start and let it return to run, the security light should come on, after 10 minutes it should turn off. Turn the key off and wait 10 seconds.

3 - Turn the key to start and let it return to run, the security light should come on, after 10 minutes it should turn off. Turn the key off and wait 10 seconds.

4 - Turn the key to start and let it return to run, the security light should come on, after 10 minutes it should turn off. Turn the key off and wait 10 seconds.

The engine should start and run when you turn the key to start this time as the system should have learned the new key.
Many GM cars only require the first pass, but the trucks can be stubborn and take all three and some will even require you to do the learning process more than once.
If you complete the cycle and it doesn't start, or the security light doesn't go off, then it's possible the pass lock sensor was damaged.
