I bought a new bbd carburetor for my 4.2. I have not been able to get it to idle, I can get it to run at high rpm for awhile then it seems to load up and die like it is getting too much fuel, but it will not idle. This is a re-manufactured carburetor.

First thing to check is if the choke plate is closed all the time and not opening. If not the vacuum motor needs to pull it open slightly when first started then fully open when hot. This may be the problem so check motor and vacuum line on linkage on rh side of carb. Then check float level it may be to high or rev motor, close choke plate do this a few times and it may clean the needle and seat. Then try adjusting the mixture screws at bottom of carb in front they may be off.
